Biography

I have recorded 13 solo albums at home on 4-track recorders and my laptop - all the instruments are played by myself mostly, except for a few tracks where I''ve enlisted a few of my bass-playing friends. I live and work in the Edinburgh area and have played a number of gigs in and around Edinburgh and Perthshire. My influences include Nick Drake , Whipping boy, Tim Buckley, Nick Cave, Townes Van Zandt, Tom Waits, Bonny Prince Billy, Bill Fay , Neu, the Stooges, Pere Ubu and the Fall.I played in a band called White Noise for about 4 years but have gone solo for the past 7 years, during which time I have recorded 13 albums under the pseudonym of Rhubarb - during that time I have covered a wide range of material from lo-fi spooky folk to folktronica, Sonic Youth / Stooges -esque rock, and even the odd splash of prog-rock - as far as I''m concerned no genre is out of bounds and I just go with the flow.
